Deer Antler Velvet has been used in Chinese medicine for centuries to treat a variety of ailments. Deer Antler Velvet is thought to stimulate testosterone, muscle growth, and enhance protein synthesis by increasing the production of a naturally occurring anabolic hormone called IGF-1. Deer Antler Velvet has been studied for its effects on strength and endurance as well.

IGF-1 stands for Insulin-like Growth Factor, a substance similar to insulin. It also has similarities to a growth hormone. IGF-1's most important role in the body is believed to be cellular growth and repair.
