Seeing Stripes and Spots

When I first started working in the fashion industry, I had this list of ‘never do that’ rules that I rigidly stuck to. Things like never wear white after labor day, or don’t wear black and brown together, etc. I quickly learned though, that while there are recommendations and guidelines in fashion, I don’t think there can ever really be set in stone rules. I feel like that every time a ‘new’ fashion ‘rule’ comes out, someone quickly proves the rule wrong by breaking it in a fashionably bad a** kind of way. So I now live by the mantra, that there are guidelines in fashion, but you are more than welcome to follow the guidelines are just completely ignore them! Post image for Do The Right Shoes Really Make A Difference?

I am an active person – I like to run and try to run a few races each year.  I also, like most other women, have a huge shoe obsession. It is like I can never have enough heels in my closet. I always seem to ‘need’ another pair. What do these two things have in common? Sadly although I am obsessed with shoes, I have never given much thought to the shoes I work out in. I always make sure I have a good pair of running shoes, because that is all I need really, right? WRONG! Keep Reading

Post image for Dress Up Your Wardrobe With A Maxi Skirt

The long, languid Maxi skirt first graced the fashion scene back in the 1970’s. Women wanted a break from the popular mini-skirt and discovered that they could still feel sexy without showing their legs. But, as quickly as it arrived, the maxi skirt soon went back into hiding and it wasn’t until a few seasons ago that it has reappeared and it seems, unlike its first fashion debute, it is here to stay. Post image for How To Mix Prints Without Looking Like You Got Dressed In The Dark

One of the big trends this Fall season is mixing prints. This trend can be very fun and brings some attitude into any outfit. It kind of let’s the out the creative side in you, but mixing patterns can be a tricky business. It also kind of walks of the line of confusion – leaving people left to wonder if you did it on purpose, or if you just didn’t check yourself before you went out the door. And I like that – to keep people guessing. Keep Reading

Post image for Look And Feel Great While Working Out

I have found one way to help keep me motivated to go to the gym, is by having workout clothes that fit and look great. Just like we like to keep our everyday clothes up-to-date and looking good, I think our workout wardrobe needs to be treated the same way. Workout clothes have come a long way – and now there are a lot of great options out there that will not only help you feel more confident as you hit the treadmill, but will fit your body properly – making it look better. Post image for How To Wear Fall’s Chunky Knits Without Looking Chunky

To me, there are few things more comfy than wearing an oversized, large knit sweater. There is just something about being wrapped up in that soft knit – almost like being enveloped in a large down comforter. I have an oversized button-down sweater shawl, that much to my husband’s chagrin, has been in my closet for at least 6 years. I will admit it is starting to get a bit shabby, but when I am at home working – you can bet I have it on. In fact, I am sporting that said sweater right now – oh my, can I tell you how comfortable I am. Keep Reading

Post image for Slimming Colors To Add To Your Wardrobe

The colors you choose to wear can make a big difference not only for your skin tone, but for your waist. Choose the wrong color and you could add extra pounds to your frame – which is something that I am sure we all wish to avoid!! Choosing flattering tones and colors can help you look instantly slim – and help your skin tone shine. Keep Reading

What Skirts To Wear This Fall

Post image for What Skirts To Wear This Fall

Although I am sad to see the warm Summer nights end, I am excited to break out my Fall wardrobe and add some new items to my lineup. This Fall season, there are two skirt styles that should be in your wardrobe. Both are easy to find, easy to wear, and they go with all top styles. Keep Reading

I have noticed a common theme among the women I help style. Every one of them seem to be temporarily dressing for their current body, always waiting for those extra pounds to come off before they really build their wardrobe. They are hesitant to make an investment in their clothing now, planning instead to eventually spend money and time on their “real’ wardrobe once those extra pounds come off.
