The grapefruit detox was invented decades ago, but it is still popular today. It’s based on the idea that grapefruit has fat-burning enzymes that could help you lose up to ten pounds of body weight in a week.
So, how to do the grapefruit detox? Some grapefruit diets last 7 days and some up to 12 days, but most versions involve eating grapefruit or drinking grapefruit juice before each meal. Some versions of this popular diet are stricter than others. The original diet asks you to avoid carbohydrates such as pasta, rice and sugar, and eat more protein-rich foods and foods that contain fat, such as red meat and eggs. Some grapefruit diets ask you to eat just 800 calories a day but in some versions you can eat more and include a variety of foods into your diet plan.
