The Many Uses And Benefits Of Avocados

by Jackie on March 22, 2017

Avocados are highly nutritious: they contain almost 20 vitamins and minerals. They are rich in potassium, folate, lutein, vitamins C and E, and vitamin K. They also contain many minerals and B-group vitamins. They are low in sugar and carbohydrates, but they are a good source of fiber.

The avocado is higher in calories than most other fruit, and two thirds of the calories come from fats. However, the fat is mostly monounsaturated. Most of it is oleic acid, which has been linked to many health benefits such as reducing inflammation and preventing heart disease. Monounsaturated fats also help to keep blood sugar under control and cholesterol levels low.

Even if you are trying to lose weight, there is no need to be afraid of eating avocados. They have many uses in a healthy balanced diet. The fiber helps to keep digestion healthy and it also makes you feel full longer. Use avocados as a substitute to butter or other fats, use them as sandwich toppings and in guacamole and other dips, or add them to salads, smoothies, wraps and pasta.

I'm a fitness nut. I know what you're thinking, one of these people who has never been fat a day in her life, and can eat whatever she wants. The truth is I struggled with my weight growing up and lived in a household where everything seemed to be fried. Once I got away from home I realized I had the choice to eat and exercise how I wanted. I've gained a lot of insight into working as a personal trainer, and feel I can relate to others that were in my situation. I think if I can do it then you can to, and if you want to start kicking butt then hop on board and lets get started.
